Using Airplanes to Help You Fish...... Sort Of

Using airplanes to help you fish, or atleast scout out areas. Thats what a few of Elite Series Pros did for last weeks Genuity River Rumble tournament. Rick Clunn was one of them, who finished 17th, his highest finish so far this year. He said that there was some places you'd miss by boat but can see clearly by plane.

Now we all know navigation is key to fishing, especially during a tournament. For $120 for an 80 minute ride seems funny to me. Yeah and I know the distance they covered with the plane would probably cost the same in gas by boat. Is anyone thinking what I'm thinking though?

HELLO WE HAVE SATELLITES NOW! GOOGLE EARTH! That would have saved you $120 and you could have relaxed in the comfort of your RV or motel, what ever they had taken to the tournament. Well I hope they atleast enjoyed the plane rides lol.

I would agree with Dustin and Troy except for the fact that alot of areas on goole earth are a few years old. Also, if the area is not denslt populated the clarity goes down severely. I must say I have used it quite a bit myself to find new areas to fish. I wish the map of my pond was more up to date because the waters about 12 ft. higher now than the map shows. If your lookinf in an area that IS populated, check out live maps. It has a birds eye view feature that is awesome. I use this map to scott duck hunting spots as well.
