I don't use spinnerbaits very often but when I get into a spinnerbait "kick" I normally do pretty well. I tend to get into phases where I'll only use a certain type of lure for quite awhile. Last year was 5-10" worms, this year deep diving crankbaits. Maybe next year I'll get back into spinnerbaits!!

I haven't checked out this video yet that you posted here but I do also have two videos on my website on spinnerbait presentation and I also have a very detailed video from KVD on using a spinnerbait. And some cool videos from Master Casters. If you haven't seen these guys in action, check them out!
You can view all the videos on my site at www.CustomFishingSkirts.com/fishingvideos.html

Ok, I finally watched the video. Very good video.

I already knew alot of the info in this video because a spinnerbait is my lure preference because I feel confident and comfortable using it and have learned alot about this lure. This is the lure that I can use best because you can use it anywhere, any time and any place. There is no wrong way to use a spinnerbait. BUT I do need to work on working it more slowly and working on presentation overall. I fish with a chuck and retreive method alot of the time. You cover much more water, more quickly. I tend to have learned that because my husband fishes that way. He's usually working the trolling motor and likes the theory of covering as much water as possible rather than taking your time and staying in one spot too long. So I kind of adapted to "fast" fishing.

I did pick up on what he said about swivels. I know swivels are important and but I never did a swivel check on any lures before and actually spun the blade to see the action and my husband and I used to build and sell spinnerbaits. Now we just make them for ourselves.

I always use a 1/4 oz spinnerbait all the time. Maybe I should graduate to a 3/4oz like he suggested. I also use a spinning rod and use a snap swivel ( I don't tie directly to the lure) for a quick change out if one color isn't producing or switching out a lure for different color blades. He suggested on not using those two items. I have not experienced any problems doing either. I use fireline on my spinning rod and have no problems with line. Along with this though is that there are two types of spinnerbaits. The one he was most likely using is the "R" bend which you should tie directly to the line. You can use a snap swivel with this type but you will encounter occasional problems. The other is a closed eye or safety pin style spinnerbait which I use and which is much easier to use a snap swivel with.

There really are alot of blade combos you can use. The common are single larger colorado, a tandem which is a single colorado blade in front and a willow in the back. Indiana blades are coming back but I have never used one. Combos I have used are double colorado. A smaller blade in the front and a half to one size larger in the back. Also same for willow blades. You can use two willows. I even have a spinnerbait that we made with triple willows. That looks like a whole school of fish coming through the water. They are silver blades which really gives off alot of flash. I have caught bass, northern and even a slab crappie on that lure. The skirt color is pink/white silicone.

I really like the spinnerbait. It is a great lure that you can fish deep, shallow, below the surface, just under the surface and gurgle it like a top water buzzbait or anything in between and bass eat it up!

I noticed another thing he mentioned was about setting the hook. I tend to be a little quick on that my
self and miss alot of bass by not letting them inhale it. They open up and go for it and I rip it out of their mouth by not waiting a few seconds for them to fully engulf the lure and set the hook. I really need to focus on a 3 second rule or something when I feel a hit.

Ok, I think I have said quite a bit here. I'll get off my spinnerbait box now. But did I tell you, I really like using a spinnerbait? Next time on the water, I will be trying to figure out those cast he did.
