BassBaby

I’ve heard a lot of guys (& gals) go night fishing for bass. I have always been an evening fisherman myself. I didn’t even know bass would hit at night. What exactly do you use and how do you fish at night for bass? I guess I thought the only thing you could catch at night was a catfish and a buzz. Any tips or suggestions?

yes night fishing is my favorite... lol go onto the discussions or troys page and you will see what happened to me night fishing lol got a hook in my finger. but it is actually a fun time to fish because the fish will be close in, but all u do is get a top water lure like buzzbait, jitterbug, something that makes a lot of noise on the water and just slow roll it.

yeah dustins right. i usually use a rappala floating minnow or a large dry fly when i'm fly fishing. it really is a good time fishing at night. one thing i recently learned from the cabellas huge master catalog is to get a gree neon light that you put underwater. this lures the small things towards that wich inturn lead the big things in i have yet to try it though. u can get some special light from cabellas for 10 bucks.

I have fished at night for bass but it's not true night fishing. Night fishing is from like 11 or 12 at night til the wee hours of the morning. We usually go out about 7pm and fish until dark. That's my night fishing, lol. But there are a few times we were out until 10pm or 11pm Most lakes we go to the bite shuts off at dark. So it must not pick up until later on during the overnight hours.

It's kind of fun and interesting to fish at night because you really don't know what is at the end of your line until you get it in the boat. I remember a couple years ago we were on a vacation fishing at night and my hubby caught this huge fish and brought it into the boat and we couldn't tell what the heck it was. So we quit fishing and brought it back up to the cottage to show my parents and my step-dad was like, that's a nice walleye! We had no clue cuz we never caught one that big before and it was dark, we didn't know, lol.
I usually keep a buzzbait on after it's dark because I am familiar with how to work the bait and I can hear it. I have no idea sometimes where the hell I am casting it but I listen for it. You kinda like gotta be a bass and use your sound radar when fishing at night. Using a buzz bait at night, I know I won't get hung up as much on weeds either if there are any around that you can't see.
There are really alot of fish that will bite at night. Walleye, musky, northern and bass are all night time fish. So there is more to night fishing that you will catch than just cat fish and a buzz;O)
