lol Tomorrow me and my cousin are going bowfishing for the first time. Going for carp and not really using too much bowfishing stuff except for the arrows. Usually you need a special bow, reel, arrow rest, string and arrows. Totalling out to about $300-400. Well we have bows so I just bought us 2 $20 arrows lol.

It does have a safety slide which keep the line away from the rest so i think we'll be ok.

PROBLEMS:

My bow has a 70 lb draw weight while the norm for bowfishing is 30-40 lbs

Using a regular fishing reel or reeling in by hand, hopefully the string doesn't get caught up and make the arrow shoot back and kill us lol.

My rest doesnt hold up the weight of the arrow. Trying to find a way to stiffen it, if not my arrow will be shooting very funny.

I don't know if you need feathers on these arrows.... So i didn't buy any. $20 is enough for a damn arrow, if it needed them i figured it woulda been on them for that price.

We are both noobs at this

I felt the points of these arrows.... SHARP.

I'm around 30-40% Polish.

I havent been to church in a very long time.

...............................................................................

Well anyways I hope we come back safe. Wish us luck lol

I have heard of bowfishing. I don't know exactly the set up for it. Never seen it. But I am scared for you!

I have a feeling if your rig works, you will totally pierce the fish. Your arrow will like go completely through the fish and out the other side with a few feet to spare of overkill with your let off weight. Just a guess.

I think you better go to church before you go! Nice knowing you, lol. J/K Please be careful, lol!

ok we are still alive! lol. Our lines got tangled up on our first 2 shots and then my second shot went right over the fish's back. Only had like an hour of daylight though. We'll get something next time!

I used to go quite a bit. All I has was an old bow and crappy real and arrows but I always had fun and did pretty good. You don't need a $400 setup at all. It reminds me of my old Zebco 33. I now have a pflueger trion on a falcon rod. Much better setup but I have definately caught more bass on the old zebco 33.
